Seeing the wood for the trees
Working closely with the Head of Corporate Communications and her team, Redhouse Lane has helped to create the three year External Communications Strategy for Forestry Commission Scotland.
The strategy defines the key themes and messages that form the backbone of how FCS demonstrates its delivery against Scottish Government and Scottish Forestry Strategy objectives and identifies key audiences and stakeholders.
Three priority themes have been developed for communication across all of FCS: Community engagement - how woodlands make a difference to the health and well-being of Scotland’s people and communities; Economic contribution - the sustainable and growing contribution forestry makes to Scotland’s economy; Climate change – how Scottish Forestry is helping to tackle climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and capturing carbon.
As a first stage, presentations and a small guidance booklet have been created together with management briefings, to roll out the programme to managers and then cascade information down to all concerned FCC staff.
A series of exhibitions and small roadshows are being created, supported by a range of leaflets, posters and display panels which will activate the three key themes and deliver the key messages to discrete audiences as well as the wider Scottish community.
